A common mistake I see with a lot of new Amazon FBA sellers is that they think their private label product is better than the other products, mainly because they are aware of all the differences between their product and the competition. However, these differences are rarely visible in the main photo (which is what a lot of buyers use to make a decision) so the seller is often left disappointed and confused when customers don't choose their product over established existing listings.

Try to put yourself in the position of a customer who may not know that much about the product they intend to buy. Ask yourself honestly "Which of these products would I click on based on the main photo, price and review score". If you don't choose your own product, then you probably need to enhance it to give it a stronger Visual Selling Point (VSP).

Product research is more than just finding products that sell well Amazon, it's about finding a niche where there is an opportunity to stand out with a visually different product that offers greater perceived value!
